Tia Cochran, MA, LCPC, PMH-C

You are the author of your own story.

This is the principle that guides my approach to therapy. I am a firm believer
that, while a therapist is an expert in mental health, you are the expert of
your own life. In working with you to cultivate your path to wellness, my role
is coming along as a helper.

Whatever route you take to wellness, it is important to nurture the mind,
body, and spirit. It is my privilege to create an empathetic, safe space for you to tend to those parts of your self, exploring vulnerabilities while emphasizing and building on your strengths. In addition, being equipped with the ability to manage stress ongoing is a primary focus in therapy.

I’m a certified perinatal mental health professional (PMH-C) and my passion is working with people during the perinatal period leading up to and during pregnancy, and up to one year after giving birth. I also work with adolescents and adults throughout the lifespan that experience depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, ADHD, low self-esteem, and racial identity struggles.

I utilize culturally-sensitive, strengths-based, trauma-informed treatment
modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior
therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), and humanistic therapy.

Everyone presents with a unique set of circumstances, so how and when
these treatment models are used depends on what will benefit you most.
I have worked in the mental health field for 10+ years with children,
adolescents, and adults from a multitude of cultural backgrounds across a
variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, schools,
and in-home. My specific skill set includes individual therapy, group therapy,
case management, consultation, and crisis assessment.
